Our Philosophy of Care

Balanced Path Psychiatry is built on a few core principles:
You are the expert on your own experience
Care should feel collaborative, not directive
Medication is one tool among many for improving quality of life
The least medication necessary is often the most effective
Treatment decisions should be grounded in informed consent
Care should respect personal boundaries and individual values
Healing looks different for every person
Patients seek care for many different reasons. Some come for help managing anxiety, depression, or ADHD. Others are navigating major life transitions, burnout, or substance use concerns. Many simply want to better understand what they’re experiencing and explore options for feeling more stable and engaged in their lives.

Balanced Path Psychiatry provides care that is thoughtful, practical, and personalized, meeting people wherever they are in their mental health journey.

Appointments are available both in person and via secure telehealth for Washington State residents.

Dr. Andrew Meeks, ARNP, DNP
Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
About Andrew
Andrew Meeks is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Washington State. His work is grounded in the belief that effective psychiatric care begins with listening—deeply, respectfully, and without assumptions.

Andrew’s path into psychiatry was shaped by years of clinical experience caring for individuals navigating complex mental health challenges, often alongside trauma, substance use, or long periods of feeling misunderstood within the healthcare system. These experiences reinforced his commitment to patient autonomy and informed consent, and to providing care that feels collaborative rather than directive.
He approaches medication thoughtfully, viewing it as one tool among many. His prescribing style is holistic and conservative, focused on targeting specific symptoms that interfere with daily life while using the lowest effective dose possible. Andrew prioritizes transparency, taking time to review potential benefits, risks, and alternatives so patients can make decisions that align with their values and goals.
Andrew practices trauma-informed care that does not require patients to revisit or disclose painful experiences in order to receive support. He also works with individuals struggling with substance use, recognizing that self-medication often precedes access to appropriate mental health care.
Through Balanced Path Psychiatry, Andrew provides secure telehealth services to Washington State residents, offering accessible, compassionate psychiatric care designed to help patients move toward healing on their own terms. He believes change is possible—and that it begins with being heard.
